Cold Tonight with a Light Freeze in Parts of North Texas Possible

If you have any tender vegetation or outdoor plans you’ll want to cover them or bring them indoors tonight. Overnight lows will drop into the 30’s across North Texas with even a few locations dipping to near freezing. After tonight we begin a strong warm up into the weekend.

…ELEVATED FIRE THREAT THIS AFTERNOON MAINLY WEST OF US-281… DRY FUELS, RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES IN THE LOWER 20% AND BREEZY NORTHWESTERLY WINDS (10-20MPH) WILL COME INTO PHASE THIS AFTERNOON, INCREASING THE THREAT FOR FIRE STARTS. GIVEN OVERALL RAINFALL FROM EARLIER THIS WEEK WAS SPARSE WEST OF I-35, EXTRA CAUTION SHOULD BE TAKEN TO AVOID THE DEVELOPMENT OF FIRES. EXTREME CARE IS URGED DURING ALL OUTSIDE ACTIVITIES WHERE THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR GRASS FIRES TO GET STARTED. AVOID OUTSIDE BURNING AND WELDING. DO NOT TOSS LIT CIGARETTE BUTTS OUTSIDE. REPORT WILD FIRES TO THE NEAREST FIRE DEPARTMENT OR LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICE QUICKLY.
