Extreme heat remains the big story across the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex today. Expect mostly sunny skies and afternoon highs near 105 degrees, with heat index values climbing into the 107 to 109 degree range. An Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect through 8 PM, so limit strenuous outdoor activity, take frequent breaks, and check on those most vulnerable to the heat.
Tonight will stay very warm and partly cloudy, with lows only falling into the upper 70s to lower 80s. A few isolated showers or thunderstorms may develop during the evening, mainly west and north of the core Metroplex. Most locations will remain dry.
Sunday brings more sunshine and even hotter conditions, with highs near 106 and afternoon feels-like temperatures close to 109. The prolonged heat continues into next week, with several days near or above 105.
Heat illness can develop quickly in these conditions. Drink plenty of water and never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle.
