A hot August day is ahead across the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. Expect plenty of sunshine through the morning, with afternoon highs climbing to around 100 degrees in Dallas and Fort Worth. A stray shower or thunderstorm cannot be ruled out during the heat of the afternoon, especially east and southeast of the Metroplex, but coverage will remain limited. Most neighborhoods will stay dry.
Skies will clear again tonight with warm, muggy lows settling into the upper 70s. South winds will remain light, offering little relief from the heat.
Sunday brings another mostly sunny and hot day, with highs near 100 to 101 degrees across much of North Texas. The extended forecast stays very hot, with afternoon heat index values nearing 105 to 110 degrees at times next week.
Limit prolonged outdoor activity during the hottest part of the afternoon, drink plenty of water, and never leave children or pets in parked vehicles.
