North Texas is starting the week with full sunshine and another round of intense August heat. Highs this afternoon will reach around 100 degrees across Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, and much of the Metroplex, with light southeast winds offering little relief. An Ozone Action Day is in effect, so consider limiting prolonged outdoor activity during the hottest part of the afternoon, especially if you are sensitive to poor air quality.
Tonight stays clear and warm, with temperatures only slipping into the mid to upper 70s by daybreak.
Tuesday will be even hotter, with highs near 101 to 102 degrees in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. South winds will increase slightly, and heat index values may climb as high as 105 to 106 during the afternoon. The heat remains locked in through midweek, with apparent temperatures potentially nearing 110 by Thursday.
Take heat precautions: drink plenty of water, limit strenuous afternoon activity, and never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle.
