A quiet and warm night is ahead for the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, with lows settling into the mid to upper 70s. A stray shower or storm can’t be ruled out late tonight, but most neighborhoods will stay dry.
Tomorrow brings another hot July day with highs climbing back into the mid and upper 90s. There will be a scattered chance for afternoon thunderstorms, especially east and south of Dallas-Fort Worth. Coverage still looks spotty, so not everyone will see rain, but any storm that develops could bring brief downpours, lightning, and a quick cool-down.
By Wednesday, the forecast turns hotter and more typical for early July. Expect plenty of sun with highs pushing the upper 90s to near 100 through the end of the week and into the weekend. Heat index values will likely top out around 105 at times, so it will feel even hotter during the afternoon. Rain chances fade quite a bit after Tuesday, with mainly dry weather dominating the extended outlook.
Heat becomes the bigger story after Tuesday, especially from Wednesday into the weekend. Be sure to limit time outside during the hottest part of the day.
