A hot North Texas day is ahead for the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, with highs climbing into the upper 90s this afternoon. We’ll see a mix of sun and clouds, and there will be a scattered chance for showers and thunderstorms developing during the afternoon, especially from mid to late day. Not everyone gets rain, but a few neighborhoods could pick up a quick downpour and some lightning.
Tonight, storm chances linger into the evening before gradually fading overnight. Skies will stay mostly cloudy for a while, then begin to break a bit later tonight. Overnight lows will settle into the mid 70s, so it will stay warm and a little muggy.
Tomorrow looks a little quieter overall. We’ll return to mostly sunny skies with just a small chance of an isolated afternoon storm, and highs will again reach the mid to upper 90s. After that, the bigger story becomes the heat, with upper 90s to near 100 expected through the middle and latter part of the week.
If you hear thunder this afternoon or evening, head indoors and keep an eye out for brief heavy rain.
