North Texas stays quiet and hot today with plenty of sunshine across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Afternoon highs will reach the mid to upper 90s, with a few hotter spots closer to 98. South winds will be a bit breezy at times, especially later today, with occasional gusts near 30 mph.
Tonight looks clear to mostly clear and warm, with temperatures only falling into the upper 70s in Dallas and parts of Collin, Denton, and Rockwall counties, while a few western spots slip into the mid 70s. Winds stay out of the south, but they should ease some after midnight.
Tomorrow brings more of the same with lots of sun and afternoon highs again in the mid 90s. Winds will be a little lighter early, then pick up modestly during the afternoon. Rain chances remain out of the picture through tomorrow, so this is a very typical late-June North Texas pattern.
Looking ahead, the bigger story will be building heat heading into Friday and the holiday weekend, when highs push toward 100 and the heat index climbs to around 105.
