North Texas stays in a pretty typical early July pattern today, with plenty of sunshine and hot afternoon temperatures across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Most spots will climb into the mid to upper 90s, and while the day looks mostly dry, a few isolated showers or thunderstorms could pop up later this afternoon, especially east and northeast of Dallas. Coverage will be limited, so many neighborhoods won’t see a drop.
Tonight turns quiet with mostly clear skies and warm, muggy conditions. Overnight lows will only fall into the upper 70s, so it will stay fairly uncomfortable if you have evening plans.
Tomorrow looks very similar, but a touch hotter. Expect highs back in the mid to upper 90s with a small afternoon storm chance once again. Most of Friday will be dry, with a light south breeze and plenty of summer heat.
The bigger story over the next several days is persistent heat, with heat index values pushing near 105 at times heading into the holiday weekend and early next week.
