A warm south breeze sticks around tonight across the Dallas-Fort Worth area, with clouds increasing overnight and lows only falling into the upper 60s.
Friday starts mostly cloudy, then turns a bit brighter at times with scattered showers and thunderstorms developing during the afternoon. Not everyone gets rain right away, but storm chances increase quickly Friday night as a more widespread round of showers and thunderstorms moves into the Metroplex. Temperatures tomorrow still reach the lower 80s before cooler air arrives late.
The wettest stretch looks to be Friday night through Saturday morning, and that’s when pockets of heavy rain will be most likely. A few thunderstorms could be strong, but the bigger concern for North Texas appears to be locally heavy rainfall and ponding on roads in spots. By Saturday afternoon, rain should begin to taper off with much cooler, less humid air settling in. Highs Saturday stay in the upper 60s, followed by dry weather Sunday through much of next week with morning lows in the 40s and afternoon highs mostly in the 70s.
Plan for a soggy start to Saturday and allow extra time if you’ll be on the roads.
