Good Monday morning, North Texas!

The winter storm continues across the area. We’ve transitioned out of the active precipitation and are now in the extreme cold phase. A slight glimmer of good news. We did not set a new record low this morning. The official low at DFW has been 15 this morning. The record was 12 from back in 1904. We were thinking we would break that record but the good news is we didn’t get quite as cold overnight.

Today will be a mix of clouds early but we do transition to more sunshine this afternoon. We stay below freezing but sunshine should help improve roadways some across the area.

Tonight is another bitterly cold night with lows dipping back down into the teens mostly across North Texas.

We are still projecting DFW to stay below freezing for 81 consecutive hours. Tomorrow (Tuesday) around 1PM we should get back above freezing.

Temperatures stay cold this week. Another weak cold front arrives on Wednesday and another arctic front arrives Friday into Saturday. The arctic front will not be as cold as this arctic intrusion and right now it looks as though we remain dry.
