ELEVATED FIRE THREAT THIS AFTERNOON WEST OF I-35 AND SOUTH OF I-20
…ELEVATED FIRE THREAT THIS AFTERNOON WEST OF I-35 AND SOUTH OF I-20… THE ARRIVAL OF VERY DRY AIR BEHIND YESTERDAY’S COLD FRONT WILL RESULT IN RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES OF 10-20 PERCENT ACROSS ALL OF NORTH AND CENTRAL TEXAS THIS AFTERNOON. WHILE LOW HUMIDITY AND ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES COULD SUPPORT FIRE STARTS ACROSS MUCH OF THE REGION…THE GREATEST FIRE DANGER SHOULD BE CONFINED TO AREAS WEST OF I-35 AND SOUTH OF I-20 WHICH REMAIN IN EXTREME OR EXCEPTIONAL DROUGHT CATEGORIES WITH AN ABUNDANCE OF CURED AVAILABLE FUELS. THIS AREA WILL ALSO SEE SOME OF THE BREEZIEST NORTH WINDS AT SPEEDS OF 10-15 MPH AND DAYTIME GUSTS AROUND 20 MPH. EXTREME CARE IS URGED DURING ALL OUTSIDE ACTIVITIES WHERE THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR GRASS FIRES TO GET STARTED. AVOID OUTSIDE BURNING AND WELDING. DO NOT TOSS LIT CIGARETTE BUTTS OUTSIDE.
