The National Hurricane Center is now giving an area of disturbed weather in the Gulf of Mexico a likely 70% chance of development. It may become a tropical depression later today however, it will be limited on how much further it can strengthen because it is forecast to quickly move on land in northeast Mexico or far south Texas. Once it moves on land the chance of additional development is over. Heavy tropical rains will be possible with the system.
