10 AM Radar – Sprinkles
If you’re looking at radar this morning you may think rain is moving across North Texas – but – it’s not. While a few sprinkles are possible most of what you’re seeing on radar is not reaching the surface. We are so dry at the lower levels of the atmosphere that the rain drops are drying up or evaporating on the way down. We call this phenomenon “VIRGA”.
Upcoming Rain Chances
We are running major rainfall deficits here in North Texas. In fact, DFW is running over 4 inches below normal for the year. There are a couple of rain chances showing up over the next seven days. Friday night – scattered showers and a couple rumbles of thunder are possible. Rainfall looks pretty spotty with that system. Then Sunday night into Monday a better opportunity of rain and possibly some thunderstorms. The coverage and rainfall amounts should be better with that system.
