We are waking up to a classic “pea soup” morning across the region. Low-level cloud cover and areas of thick fog are blanketing the area, creating some reduced visibility as you head out the door. However, the gloom won\u2019t last all day. Expect the cloud deck to break up this afternoon, allowing for periods of sunshine to filter through. It will be a warm and humid afternoon, with temperatures climbing into the mid-to-upper 70s, while our western counties could see a few readings push into the low 80s. While most of us will remain dry, don\u2019t be surprised if a few stray showers pop up during peak daytime heating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking to Thursday<\/strong> We\u2019ll see a repeat of the cloudy start tomorrow morning, but with a much different feel by the afternoon. As the cloud cover begins to scatter, south winds will kick in, becoming breezy with gusts frequently exceeding 25 mph. Afternoon highs will push toward the 80-degree mark area-wide. We will be keeping a close eye to our northwest throughout the day; as the dryline sharpens, there is a slight chance for a late-day thunderstorm to develop in our far northwestern counties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Weekend Outlook: Severe Potential<\/strong> As we head into the weekend, the pattern becomes increasingly active. The main player will be the position of the dryline. From Friday through Sunday, where that boundary sets up each afternoon will dictate which areas are at risk for storm development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When these late-afternoon and evening storms do fire, they will have the potential to become severe. We are closely monitoring the environment for the following hazards:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
